Terms of Service

Last updated September 11, 2026
Nstand is free software that watches you do a hard, physical thing and tells you what it measured. These terms are the deal: what it is, what it is not, and where the responsibility for what you do on your hands actually sits. They are written to be read, because terms nobody reads protect nobody.

Agreeing to this

Using Nstand — opening it, training with it, or making an account — means you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use it. If you are under 16, use it only with a parent or guardian who has read this and agrees to it for you.

What Nstand is

A camera, a pose detector and some geometry. It reads twelve joint positions out of a picture of you and works out angles, times and distances from them. Everything it says — a fault, a score, a level, a drill — is that arithmetic and nothing more. It runs on a phone, in imperfect light, from one angle, and it is wrong sometimes: it can name a fault that is not there, miss one that is, or measure a hold it never saw properly. Every number here is an observation to check, not an instruction to obey.

It does not replace a coach, a gym or an academy

A coach can see your wrists, knows what you did last week, knows what you are coming back from, and can stop you before you do the thing that hurts. Nstand can do none of that. It is not a coach, not a spotter, not a programme written for you, and not a substitute for a gym, an academy, a class or any qualified instruction. If you are learning to go upside down, learn it from a person. Use this for the one thing it is good at, which is seeing the line you cannot see from inside it.

It is not medical advice

Nothing in Nstand is a diagnosis, a treatment, a rehabilitation plan or medical advice of any kind, and nobody behind it is your doctor or your physiotherapist. Handstands load the wrists, elbows, shoulders and neck heavily. If you are injured, pregnant, recovering from surgery, or have any condition that an inversion or a fall could make worse, ask a qualified professional first — and follow what they tell you over anything this app measures.

You train at your own risk

Handstands and handstand walking carry a real risk of injury, including falls onto the head, neck, wrists and back, and injuries that are serious or permanent. That risk is there whether or not an app is watching, and using Nstand does not reduce it. You decide to train, you choose where and when, and you accept that risk yourself. Warm up. Train on a surface you can fall on, with space around you and nothing to hit. Learn to bail before you learn to hold. Stop when something hurts, and stay off your hands when you are tired enough to land badly.

What we are not liable for

Nstand is provided as it is and free of charge, with no warranty of any kind — no promise that it is accurate, available, fit for your purpose or free of faults. To the fullest extent the law allows, the people who make and run Nstand are not liable for any injury, death, loss or damage arising from your use of it: from what it measured, named or recommended, from what it failed to measure or warn you about, or from any training you did with it. Nothing here removes liability that cannot lawfully be removed, including for death or personal injury caused by our own negligence, or for fraud.

Your account, and using it fairly

An account is optional and adds one thing: your history follows you to another device. Use an address you can actually receive mail at, keep your password to yourself, and do not sign in to an account that is not yours. Do not attack the service, scrape it, break into other accounts, or use it for anything unlawful. An account doing that can be suspended or deleted. You can delete yours at any time on the Profile screen, and it really deletes it.

What you record, and who is in it

The video of a session is made on your device and stays there: nothing uploads it and no part of the service would take one. It is yours, and so is the responsibility for it. If somebody else is in frame you need their agreement, and where you film and what you then post is on you. A reel drawn from your joints is yours to post the same way.

No promise that it keeps working

Nstand is a small personal project, not a company with an operations team. It can change, break, lose a feature or stop entirely, with no notice and no compensation. Your training history lives on your device first, which is the reason it does: a service that went away would not take it with it.

Changes to these terms

These terms change when the app does. The date at the top says when they last did, and using Nstand after a change means accepting the new version. A change that materially affects you is said in the app rather than left here quietly.

The law, and your rights

These terms are governed by the law of the country Nstand is run from, and nothing in them takes away a protection you have under the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in. If any part of them turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands.

Asking us something

The report form in the app reaches the person who keeps Nstand running. It is the right place for a question about these terms, for a complaint, or for anything that went wrong.
